MAS - Los Angeles

MAS Chapters carry a comprehensive, balanced, moderate, movement oriented vision of Islam in America that focuses on empowering the community and leadership thru service. (see www.masnet.org). MAS members have been serving the community in the greater Los Angeles for many years. The current MAS Los Angeles Chapter Council has been in operation since the year 2000.

Since its inception MAS has offered many programs to the community including:

  • Developing and delivering Tarbiya and Leadership training programs for University Students. Holding several weekly halakas, monthly Quiams, yearly retreats and camps for University Students. Working with local MSAs to establish stronger, more organized MSA work in Los Angeles.
  • Developing and delivering Tarbiya & Social programs for teenagers in the Boston area. Halakas, Monthly Outings, mentorship programs with University Students, and other youth development programs.
  • MAS Los Angeles Scouts
  • MAS Freedom Foundation : Political and Media Outreach. Delivering political activism training in Los Angeles, outreaching to politicians, participating in rallies, holding voter registration drives, working in immigrant detainees cases, holding workshops (such as immigration registration and others), and defending the civil rights of Muslims in Los Angeles.
  • Tarbiya Programs for the entire community, including many halakas, regular retreats, camps, and trainings.
  • Community Development Programs: many of MAS' programs are specifically catered to target audiences (e.g. programs for: Children, teenagers, university students, New Muslims, sisters, Parents, immigrants etc.). MAS members have been working closely with many Mosques and Islamic schools in the greater Los Angeles area.
  • Seminars in areas such as Leadership Development, Family Counseling, raising children, Activism Training, Dawa training, and more.
